How TESG Put Me To Work: Maria Bibi

Stephanie

This is part of a series of testimonials from candidates who have successfully been placed by The Execu|Search Group. This testimonial comes from Maria Bibi; you can find our past testimonials here

Upon starting her first job out of college at a nonprofit, Maria was instantly drawn to the mission-based work. While this was a great place for her to start her career, opportunities for growth were limited and she was ready for a change. Looking for a full-time position with an organization that would allow her to further develop her skills, Maria connected with Kathryn McCarthy, a Staffing Manager within The Execu|Search Group’s Nonprofit division.

With Kathryn’s help, Maria received an offer for a role in donor relations from a global humanitarian aid and relief organization. Enjoying her new role, Maria was happy to speak with us about her experience with Execu|Search:

On her background…

I graduated from Brooklyn College with a Bachelor’s in Communications. I was required to do an internship during my last semester, which led me to my first employer; a nonprofit serving the deaf and hard of hearing community. I started as an Administrative Intern and was later hired as a Program Associate, managing grants in Salesforce.

On what she was looking for…

I wanted to work for an organization where I could make an international impact. I was also looking for more advancement opportunities in order to take my career to the next level.

On how TESG worked to meet her needs…

Kathryn, who I consider “my person,” was so helpful throughout my entire search! Not only did she constantly update me on where I stood with prospective employers, but she also checked in when she did not have any news. I always felt that Kathryn and her team were doing their best to find me the right fit, and I always got excited to answer her calls. Her enthusiasism and optimism made all the difference!

On preparing for the interview…

Kathryn always helped ease my nerves before an interview. Not only would she make sure I had all the background info on the company that I needed, but she would also set up practice interviews. This gave me the confidence I needed to make a good impression during the actual interview.

On her overall experience…

Kathryn was such a big support during the entire process. She listened to my needs and really took the time to identify opportunities that would allow me to take the next step in my career. My new role in donor relations is helping me build my skillset with an organization I love working for!

“Maria was a pleasure to work with throughout the process,” says Kathryn. “Because she’s so organized and has such great communication skills, our entire team was on the same page that this was the perfect role for Maria. Now that she is happy in her new role, we look forward to following her career in the years to come! Maria understands that every person at a nonprofit contributes to the mission, no matter how big or small their role might seem.”
